Working together with James A Buker, Senior Project Engineer at The City of Calgary, Precon developed a series of custom Multi-Panel Waterworks Feedermain Vaults to meet the City’s specific needs. These large Feedermain Vaults had to be easily transportable, construction friendly and large enough to house a working area for future maintenance. In addition, the vaults had to be watertight and capable of supporting the soil dead loads associated with the City’s Feedermain Design burial depths.

One of the unique features designed into these vaults was a large removable precast concrete hatch to allow for the potential removal of Feedermain Valves. The chamber also includes other convenient features like a grab bar, slip resistant aluminum poly-coated climbing rungs, a sump and cover and eye bolts cast into the top of the vault to aid in valve removal.
