What is the difference between cement and concrete?

Cement is a fine white powder used in the making of concrete.  Concrete is the mixture that is made up of cement, water, rock, sand, sometimes fly-ash and any admixtures required for the type of concrete you’re wanting to make.  If concrete were bread, cement is the flour.

What accreditations is your plant certified to?

  • Canadian Precast Concrete Quality Assurance (CPCQA) for catch basins, C76 pipe, manholes, vaults, boxes and micro-tunnel pipe.
  • CSA C8083-05 Precast Concrete – Reinforced Circular Manhole Sections and Catch Basins.

Is concrete heavy?

Yes, very.  Concrete weighs approximately, depending on the density of the mixture, 2400 kg/m3 or 5291 lbs/m3.  Which is why safety is so incredibly, extremely, monumentally important at our manufacturing facility.

How does one arrange a plant tour?

Plant tours are available year-round for consultants, engineers and contractors.  Please contact our Customer team or a tour can be arranged through the Canadian Concrete Pipe and Precast Association (CCPPA).

Do you manufacture or sell septic tanks?

Sorry no, we do not manufacture or sell septic tanks.

Do you manufacture or sell precast stairs?

Sorry no, we do not manufacture or sell precast stairs.

Do you make your own concrete or source it elsewhere?

We make our own concrete.  We have a Haarup mixer and batching system which allows us to fine tune concrete to the specs that we need for any given project.

Did we invent the pre-benched manhole base?

We haven’t any proof that we were the first, but we did come up with the idea independently in the early 1980s and have been making them ever since.  Other products we did invent are: Impact Baffles, Inlet/Turnouts and Check & Check/Drop Structures….with more coming
