HR & HS Administrator (Work-Term)
Precon is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Human Resources & Health & Safety (HR & H&S) Administrator (Work-Term) to join our team in Coalhurst, AB.
This role provides hands-on exposure to both Human Resources and Health & Safety, making it ideal for a recent graduate or current student who is looking to build practical experience in a fast-paced and supportive team environment. The HR Administrator plays a key role in keeping internal processes organized, accurate, and running smoothly.

Location: Coalhurst, AB
Compensation: Starting from $25/hour, commensurate with education and experience.
Hours: Part-time, up to 35 hours/week, Monday to Friday, starting at 8:00am
Term: 8-months with opportunity to extend or become permanent.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources (HR):
- Assist and support the full employment cycle: recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and offboarding.
- Assist with HR documentation and data entry.
- Support HR programs (including referral bonuses, staff events, and engagement initiatives).
- Maintain accurate and confidential HR files.
- Support HR projects and process improvements.
- Assist with employee evaluation tracking.
- Provide HR reporting (attendance, recruitment metrics).
Health & Safety (HS):
- Support H&S administration, documentation, and training tracking
- Assist with incident reporting documentation
- Help prepare weekly meeting materials
- Support safety initiatives and compliance activities
- Participate in H&S projects as required.
General Administrative Duties:
- Update templates, forms, policies
- Support internal communications (Teams, posters, digital signage)
- Maintain organized filing systems
- Assist with scheduling, coordination, and cross-department projects
Qualifications/Requirements
- Prior experience in any HR or H&S functions listed above is considered an asset.
- Currently enrolled in or completed a diploma or degree in Human Resources, Health & Safety, Business Administration, or other related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact respectfully and effectively with employees at all levels.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety; willing to do your part; participate in regular meetings, hazard assessments, training, and other Health & Safety related tasks.
- Responsive, resourceful, and committed to delivering a positive employee experience; you are willing to go the extra mile to demonstrate an outstanding work experience for our employees.
- Ability to maintain a strict confidentiality with respect to employee privacy, and handle sensitive information appropriately.

- Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail; comfortable working with numbers, spreadsheets, and basic math calculations used in HR and H&S reporting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook) and with technology (computers, software, mobile phones, apps, etc.).
- Training in Incident Investigations is an asset.

Work Conditions and Context
- Travel: Valid class 5 drivers’ license, clean driving record, and readily available transportation to and from work are required. Precon is located outside of Lethbridge, so travel is required. Occasional travel for Occupational Injury Services (OIS), or travel out-of-area or overnight may also be expected for training purposes.
- Conditions: Work for this position will be performed mostly indoors in office settings, however, the candidate will need to be present in the manufacturing facility at times to interact with staff and gain knowledge about the company. Our manufacturing location in Coalhurst is a safety-sensitive facility with overhead and other hazards. It involves conditions of noise, dust, and exposure to weather conditions and the elements. Wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required (e., hard hat, high-visibility clothing, steel-toed boots, hearing and eye protection, mask, etc.).
- Telecommuting/Working from home: May be available for some special projects or tasks for this position. However, this role will still be required to work on-site for the majority of the time.
